Cloud Engineer
What you'll do
As a Cloud and Support Engineer, you’re the one making things real, translating architecture into working infrastructure, and moving projects from idea to launch.
You’ll be:
Engineering infrastructure for SaaS clients, based on a signed Statement of Work and using our proven stack (Terraform, Helm, GitOps, Kubernetes… you know the drill).
Developing a deep understanding of our best practices, workflows, and the capabilities of the product we build and use.
Delivering onboarding and add-on projects where customer context matters just as much as the technical excellence of what you deliver.
Clarifying expectations with your Solution Architect and Customer Lead, so that scope, timelines and priorities are aligned before you hit apply.
Tackling technical work that fits your current experience, while gradually stretching into more advanced work with support from your colleagues, who help you level up by sharing context, reviewing your approach, or sparring on design.
Handling technical change with care: platform standards come first, but customer reality matters, so you help balance both.
Documenting your work clearly, so others can support, troubleshoot or evolve it, no knowledge silos here.
Spotting reusability opportunities, and contributing your learnings back into our platform components when something proves valuable across clients.
Responding to daily incoming support requests during delivery by solving the straightforward, flagging the complex, and always making sure the right person picks it up.
Using and contributing to our internal knowledge base, so everyone learns faster next time.
Once you’re ready past your onboarding, you’ll also be part of our on-call rotation, helping keep production workloads healthy.
We see this role as the beginning of a broader journey within Skyscrapers. As you complete onboarding, we will expect and support you to gradually take on a broader role as Customer Lead. In this role you will also be accountable for delivering on your assigned customer’s goals and expectations throughout their journey with Skyscrapers. Ultimately, you’ll take the lead in aligning our team’s efforts and platform capabilities to deliver meaningful outcomes for each customer, exactly how and when they need them.
What you might grow into
You’re not just here to ship tickets. You’re here to grow, in scope, in impact, and in context.
This role opens the door to:
Solution shaping: evolving how we standardise and roll out infrastructure across clients, alongside a Solution Architect.
FinOps awareness: spotting cost signals early and helping our Money Saver implement optimisation strategies.
Pre-sales involvement: advising prospective clients on what good infrastructure looks like, and contributing to scoping discussions.
We’ll help you stretch into these areas gradually, and at your pace. You can see how our current team looks like.
About you
You're the kind of engineer who:
Understands that infrastructure is a means to customer value, not just a playground.
Communicates and likes to communicate clearly, with developers, leads, or less-technical profiles.
Is curious about what happens before and after the code gets deployed.
Likes figuring out why a problem exists, not just fixing the symptoms.
What we look for in every colleague
We don’t believe in hierarchy for hierarchy’s sake. That’s why we all take ownership for both how we work and what we deliver.
You communicate openly and transparently, both in writing and on video
You’re self-organised and manage your own todo's without micromanagement
You challenge unclear priorities or irrational trade-offs - and propose better ones
You improve your environment, not just your output
You care about your colleagues’ success as much as your own

Fluent English, written and spoken
Nice-to-haves that might tilt the balance
FinOps, observability, CI/CD or security chops
Experience mentoring others or coordinating small initiatives
Certifications (AWS, CNCF...), mindset matters more than paper, but it’s expected that you’ll work toward these if you don’t have them yet
